National Opera Studio Coaching Programme

On Monday 20th November, six of our pupils and students performed a recital at the National Opera Studio in Wandsworth. This was thanks to our partnership coaching programme and we are very grateful to the National Opera Studio for investing time in our talented singers. Jaden B (Year 12), Heloise R (Year 12), Abigail D (Year 11), Laurence R (Year 10), Petra B (Year 10) and Atina RF (Year 10) worked so hard on their pieces and they all delivered amazing performances, which were a real pleasure to listen to. Many thanks to the parents, pupils and students who came along to support; it was such an enjoyable afternoon and really showed how wonderful these young talented singers are.

Well-Being Champions

New Year 10 Well-Being Champions have completed their mental health first aid training so they can support Year 7 and Year 8 pupils going through tough and challenging times. Well done to this group of strong and resilient Year 10 leaders!

This leadership role is extremely important as many young people need help and support. They have been taught how to support, how to safeguard and how to keep confidentiality from their peers and others in the community. They have already met their young people, and will be coaching them to support positive mental health and well-being.

Year 8 trip to Southwark Cathedral

On Tuesday 17th October, 30 of our Year 8 pupils visited Southwark Cathedral to explore the Museum of the Moon exhibition. The pupils enjoyed a guided tour of the cathedral where they learnt about the meaning behind some of the beautiful stained glass windows. The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the stunning seven-metre replica of the Moon. This incredible sculpture allowed the students to appreciate the Moon's intricate details, with each centimetre representing five kilometres of the lunar landscape. Finally, pupils had a chance to draw their own interpretations of the Moon. It was a day filled with inspiration and wonder!

Google HQ

To celebrate Ada Lovelace Day, on Tuesday 10th October, a group of Year 9 girls visited Google HQ to learn about the importance of studying maths and how it is used everyday in the workplace. They heard from some fantastic speakers including the Director of GCHQ and participated in speed mentoring sessions. They heard from inspiring women who use maths in their roles in marketing, human resources, law, software engineering  and pharmaceuticals. Some key takeaways included be curious in your learning, pursue the subjects that you enjoy and put in the hard work as it pays off. Maths is a key skill that is needed in a world where technology is evermore present, and the UK needs a more diverse range of people to study it.
