Pupil Librarian Award

We are very excited to be able to announce that Joe S-L (Year 9) pictured left, has been selected as a finalist for this year’s annual Pupil Library Assistant Award run by the School Library Association. You can read more about this on the official website, but here’s an excerpt from the press release:‘The shortlisted pupils were nominated by their school librarians for their outstanding work in the school library… Open to pupils who assist in school libraries across the UK, the award recognises the impact of their work at their school and equally the value of the experience to the children’s lives. Entries are judged by a panel from the children’s book world and school library community. The winner will be announced by the Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho at the award ceremony [in] April.’ Well done Joe!

London Borough of Culture Interview

We have further reason to be proud of our A Level Drama Student Koko I. Before half term we reported that Koko has been accepted to both LIPA and GSA drama schools. Since then, she was invited to attend the London Borough of Culture interview. Following the event, the Head of Arts and Culture at Wandsworth Council wrote to us to compliment Koko forbeing absolutely fantastic - she spoke so eloquently, passionately and knowledgeably. She worked incredibly diligently in preparing for the interview and we are grateful both that she agreed to be part of the delegation and that you were able to give her the time off school to attend.” Well done Koko!

Super Star in our Drama Department!

We are very proud to announce that our A Level Drama student, Koko I in Year 13, has been accepted to the LIPA (Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) and GSA (Guildford School of Acting) drama schools! This has involved a rigorous and highly competitive audition process as there are limited places available. This is an incredible achievement – well done Koko!

Ready, Steady, Bake!

What an incredible turnout for the Saint Cecilia’s Bake Off 2024, which took place in a packed Refectory on Monday afternoon! The competition was fierce and the entries were nothing short of delicious. I’ve been running this event for five years now, and this was by far the most impressive selection. Our judges, Mrs Renata Joseph and Mr James Owen had quite the challenge on their hands to taste all the entries and select the winners for each house and the overall Bake Off Champion.

1st place = Ives Claudia B (Year 7), 2nd place = Newton Hannah H (Year 8), 3rd place = Archimedes Rose S (Year 8), 4th place = Turing Amelia L and Katie L (Year 8), 5th place =  Carter Betty C-T (Year 9) and 6th place =  Schubert Nicole W, Sienna N, Acacia D (Year 7).

Perfection in Paris

A large group of Year 9 pupils embarked on an exciting trip to Paris, departing on the Eurostar last Friday. Their Parisian adventure kicked off with a cruise along the River Seine on the Bateaux Mouche, where they saw key landmarks including Notre Dame Cathedral and the iconic Eiffel Tower.

The pupils had an unforgettable trip which gave them a mix of cultural immersion, educational experiences and fun with their friends in the City of Light.
