On Friday 7th February, we held a ceilidh for staff and students in memory of Mr David Iannarelli, a much loved and missed former member of staff. It was a hugely fun and uplifting event. Students were enthusiastic in their praise: “It was life changing”, “The live band was my favourite bit”, “It was a great bonding experience bringing the whole Sixth Form together.” We are extremely grateful to the Friends who helped make the event possible by contributing half the cost of the live band.
Last week, Year 9 played against St Thomas the Apostle School in the South London Cup and had an excellent match, winning 4-2. Goals were scored by Kishon C (three) and Dylan G.
Year 7 have been working on an observational drawing project. Here is a very beautiful watercolour by Mia M. Well done Mia!
A huge well done to our fantastic group of Year 11 pupils who were an absolute credit to the school on our recent trip to the University of Cambridge.
Pupils had the opportunity to explore the stunning campus, taking in the rich history and inspiring surroundings of one of the world’s top universities. Either side of a hot lunch in the beautiful Robinson College dining hall, they attended talks with two recent Cambridge graduates. These sessions provided invaluable advice on preparing for interviews, exploring super-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities and what to expect from university life. Pupils also gained tailored guidance on activities and experiences that would strengthen their applications for courses they were interested in.
On Wednesday 5th February, Year 12 Music and Music Technology students and some of our Year 11 pupils studying Music visited Royal Holloway University Music Department. They had a tour, experienced an exceptional lunchtime concert by undergraduate brass players and the choral scholars and attended an engaging lecture on video game music. It was a fantastic day for them all.
Congratulations to Xanthe B (Year 10 Music Scholar)! Xanthe recently auditioned and secured a coveted place at the prestigious West End MT London Musical Theatre School—an elite training programme for exceptionally talented young performers. West End MT students have the opportunity to showcase their skills on London’s West End stages, making this a remarkable accomplishment. Xanthe’s success highlights her outstanding talent.
On Monday 3rd February, a record number of pupils and students gathered in the Refectory for our annual Bake Off—what an event it was! Congratulations to Vittoria B (Year 9) in Schubert for taking the top spot with her outstanding bake! A fantastic effort from everyone who participated - every entry was brilliant, making the competition so close. The pictures below demonstrate the talent and fun of this popular house event.
