Sportshall Athletics Competition Win

On Thursday 12th January, our teams competed in the Wandsworth Sportshall Athletics Competition held at Battersea Sports Centre. The atmosphere was electric, as the pupils competed against many schools in the district at a huge variety of athletic events. It was a very successful day for Saint Cecilia's, as we were the overall winning school! Every Saint Cecilia’s team won medals:
Year 7 girls: Silver
Year 7 boys: Silver
Year 8 girls: Silver
Year 8 boys: Gold

Our Year 8 boys won comfortably and qualify for the regional finals next month - a great achievement!

Particular well done to Tristan B and Emma H for being selected as Year 7 Athletes of the Day, and to Nahshon O and Neema C being selected as Year 8 Athletes of the Day. We are so proud of all pupils who trialled after school and lunchtimes leading up to the event. We are excited for the athletics season in the Summer Term!

Running for Surrey

Jack H (Year 11) and Grace E (Year 11) were both selected to run for the Under-17 Surrey Team at the South of England Cross Country Inter Counties Championships on Saturday 10th December. This was held in Oxford. It was a freezing cold but sunny day and the course was brutal! A huge well done to both Grace E and Jack H for being selected to run for their county, this is a fantastic achievement!

A Level Philosophy and Ethics Oxbridge Conference

The entire A Level Philosophy and Ethics cohort were invited to attend a prestigious conference hosted by Ethiqa on the Philosophy of God. Held in Bloomsbury, it offered lively debate and ground-breaking discussion from some renowned scholars. We heard from Oxford and Cambridge fellows as they talked through their latest research and publications. Students received study tips from the academics who inform the exam board and met with legendary figures such as philosopher and theologian, Professor Keith Ward.

Music Scholars' Christmas Song

Every year, Year 9 Music Scholars write their own Christmas song for performance at the Carol Service. As part of our new partnership with Crown Lane Studio in Morden, the group had the opportunity to record their Christmas song in a professional studio. On Thursday 8th December, the group made their way to the studio decked out in fairy lights and tinsel to perform in the professional studio and see their song come alive. The final track, Wonderful Winter’s Night, can be found on the school website here.
